You may remember the Scholastic Book Fairs from your childhood — We do. Once in the spring and once in the fall, our elementary school multi-purpose room (formerly the computer lab) hosts a portable bookstore and sell books to students in all grades (Kindergarten through fifth grade). And kids have their own purchasing power and they’re allowed to pick the books they want to read.
The Spring Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026- Friday, March 20, 2026 in the Collaboration Lab at Fernbrook School, during school hours. There will also be shopping hours during Parent/Teacher Conferences and evening hours on Thursday, March 19, 2026 until 7:30 PM.
Teachers will be creating Wish Lists of books for their classrooms. Feel free to stop by during conferences to purchase these items or send your child in with an extra donation.
Tax Information:
Students (or any shoppers) will have to pay NJ Sales Tax on their purchases. The current NJ Sales Tax is 6.625%. We will have signs to remind our students about the tax addition, but please make sure your children understand this added cost.
For Example: In the past, if you gave your child a $10 bill and the book was $9.99, this amount would have covered the cost. With this new tax addition, if the book is $9.99, the total cost with sales tax will be $10.65.
*Please note that the NJ Sales Tax addition will be in place for all future Scholastic Book Fairs.
